For albums and single-track albums, you can upload either .wav or .mp3 files.
We highly recommend uploading .wav files since they are not compressed and offer the highest quality possible integrity to encode into the various formats for each music store.
.wav audio files must conform to the following industry standards:
- 2 Channel Stereo (Mono is not allowed)
- Minimum bit rate of at least 16-bit
- Minimum sample rate of at least 44.1 kHz
.mp3 files must conform to the following industry standards:
- 2 Channel Stereo (Not Mono)
- Minimum bit rate of at least 192kbps (320kbps recommended)
IMPORTANT: .mp3 files are notorious for being corrupted. Given the multitude of off the shelf encoders available, some programs simply do a terrible job of conforming to standardized .mp3 protocols and often create corrupted .mp3 files without the user knowing. Some audio players have no problem playing corrupted .mp3 files, but in order for us to encode they must be completely error free (and sometimes the lay person cannot tell). This is another reason we highly recommend uploading .wav files. Plus, as an artist who wants to please their fans, you really should use the highest quality source possible and this will always be a .wav file.
